Questions
Phones, plans and life with Ring Ring Club.
The basics
What is the Ring Ring Club?
We are a private communication network for families who miss the "Golden Age" of the home phone. We provide the hardware and secure service to make real phones work over your internet without apps, screens, or strangers. Ring Ring Club is operated by Ring Ring Club LLC, based right outside Philadelphia.
Is this a "real" phone?
Yes. Pick it up and you'll hear a dial tone. If someone in your Circle of Trust calls, it will ring (loudly). It's 100% digital audio, but it feels like 1994.
Why not just get my kid a "dumb" cell phone?
Because even a "dumb" phone lives in their pocket. It follows them to the dinner table, the bathroom, and under the covers. A Ring Ring phone stays on the wall or the kitchen counter. It creates a physical boundary that says: "When you're on this phone, you're talking. When you hang up, you're back in the room."
Community
What is the "Give Back" Program?
We believe it takes a village. We partner with local schools, libraries, and PAs to turn the Club into a fundraising tool. We aren't here to maximize shareholder profits; we're here to support the institutions that raise our kids.
Is a pod a device, and does everyone need the same kit?
A pod is a group of families buying together. Each family chooses and orders its own kit. Families can join from different circles. The organizer confirms who belongs, and connections happen between confirmed families who have both agreed to connect. Parents keep control of their contacts.

The ones in our online store are brand new "Modern Classics." However, we love upcycling retro treasures. We often have a "Secret Stash" of thrifted, refurbished vintage phones available exclusively at our local pop-up events.
Phones & setup
How do I change my phone’s Wi-Fi network or password?
In the web dashboard, choose your phone under "Your phones". On a small screen, open Today and tap "Manage selected phone". Scroll to "Hardware & connection", then "Wi-Fi network". Tap "Check Wi-Fi connection" if a network is already saved, or "Set up Wi-Fi" if it is not. If the guide shows the saved connection, choose "Change network or Wi-Fi settings" to edit it. Keep the phone powered and connected to your router by Ethernet until the guide confirms that the phone received the settings. Saving them alone does not deliver them. Unplug Ethernet only when the guide asks, then complete its connection check and a test call. This is for the Modern Wi-Fi phone. The Bridge uses Ethernet.
What is the "Ring Ring Bridge"?
It's a small adapter that translates "Modern Internet" to "Old School Telephone." The Bridge has no built-in Wi-Fi. Connect it by Ethernet to your router or a mesh unit with an Ethernet port, then plug your analog phone into the Bridge with a phone cord. The Nostalgic kit includes the same Bridge, so you can swap its handset for another compatible analog phone.
Can I use my Grandma's rotary phone?
Yes! If it has a standard RJ11 jack (the little clear plastic clip) and functions, it will receive and make calls using the Ring Ring Bridge. Vintage pulse-dialing (rotary) is a bit hit-or-miss for outgoing calls, but we'll help you try to make that 1970s avocado green phone work if you're determined. (And yes, the hamburger phone works too.)
Will my phone's physical features work?
Speed Dial: Most physical buttons on "Modern Classics" work perfectly. Caller ID: We send the data, but whether it shows up depends on your specific phone's hardware. Think of it as a fun workshop experiment!
Safety
Who can call my kid?
Only people you approve. Period. Open Contacts in your web dashboard to manage the people your child can call and be called by. If a number isn't on the list, the phone won't ring. No robocalls, no strangers.
What about the 911 Stickers?
We are legally required to send these. You must apply them to your hardware. They remind guests and sitters that this phone relies on internet and power. If either is down, they should use a mobile phone for emergencies.
Can my kid call 911?
Paid Plan ("Make It Ring Ring"): Yes. E911 is legally required for accounts with a 10-digit number. Starter Plan: No. This is an internal routing system, not a true phone number. It cannot reach the public network (including 911). If you are worried about accidental 911 dials, the Starter Plan is your safest bet.
Is my child's data safe?
Absolutely. We don't listen to calls, we don't record conversations, and we don't sell your data. We are parents ourselves, and we built this to be COPPA-compliant from the ground up.
Parent controls
How do I customize the experience?
Sign in to your web dashboard. Choose your phone under Your phones, or tap Manage selected phone on Today, for Quiet Hours and phone controls. Open Contacts for people and Quick Dial. You can:
- Quiet Hours: Set the phone to go dormant during dinner or bedtime.
- Digital Kill Switch: Turn the phone off instantly from your mobile.
- Assign Shortcuts: Open Contacts, then Quick Dial. Your child dials * followed by a slot number from 1 to 9.
- Invite: Securely invite family members to join the Circle of Trust.
Plans & orders
How much does it cost?
- Starter $0/mo
- Calls to other Ring Ring Club members only. Up to 9 quick dials. Cannot call cell phones or outside numbers.
- Make It Ring Ring $8.95/mo
- Full 10-digit number + unlimited calls to parent-approved US and Canadian numbers (cell phones and landlines).
Can the Starter Plan call cell phones or other outside numbers?
No. The Starter Plan is members-only. It can call other Ring Ring Club members, and that's it. You can save up to 9 of those members as quick dials. To call any number outside the Club (cell phones, landlines, businesses, anyone), upgrade to the Make It Ring Ring plan.
Is there an Annual Discount?
Yes! Prepay for a year and take 10% off the total.
Are there hidden taxes or fees?
No. The only thing added to your subscription is applicable sales tax - that's it. Everything else is included in the price you see online, E911 service included. We don't tack on "regulatory recovery" charges, carrier fees, or surprise line items - the kind of extras that can nearly double the monthly cost with some other providers. The $8.95 is the $8.95, plus your local sales tax.
Upgrading or Downgrading?
You can switch anytime in your Dashboard. Note: If you downgrade to the Starter plan, you will lose your 10-digit number. Remember to port it out if you want to keep it!
Is there a contract?
Never. You're part of the Club as long as it works for your family. Cancel anytime via your dashboard with one click.
What is your return policy?
We offer a 30-day "Make It Ring" guarantee. If you can't get it working or your family just isn't into it, send the hardware back for a refund. No hard feelings.
